The spaces you live and work in shape your daily life in ways you rarely notice – your energy, your mood, your sleep, your relationships, and your sense of ease, yet most of us arrange our homes by habit or chance rather than by design. For thousands of years, the Indian tradition of Vastu Shastra has taught that the way a space is oriented and organized, its light, its directions, and its flow, quietly influences the wellbeing of everyone inside it. These ideas are far older, and far more practical, than most people realize.
The good news is that Vastu is understandable, and in most cases genuinely applicable, once you know what it is actually about, and that knowledge is empowering. Learning how the directions and the five elements are thought to work, understanding what your current space may be doing well or poorly, discovering what this time-tested tradition has to offer, and knowing which adjustments are simple and which are not can transform the way you experience the rooms where you spend your life.
This friendly course was created specifically for everyday people who want clear answers about Vastu Shastra. No background in architecture, Sanskrit, or Indian philosophy is required, just a curiosity about your surroundings and a desire to make your home and workplace feel more balanced and alive. Come as you are, and bring your questions; nothing is too basic to ask here.
This course is ideal for anyone curious about Vastu for their home, apartment, or workplace, and for those who simply want to understand one of the world’s great traditions of harmonious design.

Vastu Shastra for Harmonious Living and Working Spaces
Understanding Your Space: The Ancient Indian Science of Living in Harmony

This welcoming, easy-to-understand course is designed for everyday people who want to bring more balance into their living and working spaces, understand the principles behind Vastu Shastra, and make more informed choices about how they arrange their environment. The course translates an ancient and sometimes intimidating body of knowledge into plain, practical language that makes sense immediately, and treats a rich tradition with both warmth and honesty.
We begin with the foundations: what Vastu Shastra actually is, where it comes from, and the core idea that a space can be arranged in harmony with the natural world. From there we explore the building blocks of the tradition. We look at the five great elements, earth, water, fire, air, and space, and the roles they are said to play in a balanced
environment. We explore the eight directions and the qualities traditionally associated with each, along with the Vastu Purusha Mandala, the symbolic grid that serves as Vastu’s blueprint for a site. We then move room by room through the home, from the entrance to the kitchen, bedrooms, and beyond, and we turn to commercial and workplace spaces, where Vastu is applied to shops, offices, and businesses. Along the way we discuss simple, practical adjustments and the everyday thinking behind them.
This course places Vastu Shastra in its wider context. Rather than presenting it in isolation, we explore how Vastu relates to its sister Vedic sciences, including Ayurveda and yoga, and how it compares to other great traditions of harmonious space such as Chinese Feng Shui. You will learn how the tradition approaches the home and workplace, where its guidance is practical and widely shared, what it does particularly well, and how to think about its recommendations, including which ideas are rooted in long tradition and which are matters of culture, symbolism, or personal meaning. Clear visual illustrations bring each concept to life in a way that is immediately relatable and easy to remember.
This course is taught with deep respect for the questions that everyday people bring to a tradition like this one. The instructor, K.P. Khalsa, has practiced Ayurveda for 54 years and holds a doctorate in Ayurveda, the field of which Vastu Shastra is the architectural branch. He is a state certified dietitian-nutritionist (DN-C) and a Registered Herbalist (AHG), and in yoga he holds the title of Yogaraj, alongside a deep grounding in classical Indian thought. As a widely respected educator and author in the field, he is committed to honest, trustworthy education that is rooted in genuine scholarship and decades of real experience, and that is careful to distinguish what is core tradition from what is regional, symbolic, or a matter of interpretation. The aim is simple: accurate, balanced information, delivered without hype, that genuinely empowers you to make good decisions about your own space.
No special background required. All are welcome.
