Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing body, mind, and consciousness rooted in the timeless Vedic teachings. Ayurvedic psychology rests upon an exceptional view of the human being and consciousness that can be very different than what we find in the modern approach. It supports profound yogic philosophy, psychology and cosmology at the core of our being, and it is not theoretical, but reflects a profound understanding of how the universe operates, outwardly and in our own psyche. Vedic psychology is rooted in the permanent, vast wisdom of the cosmic mind, of which all chronicled human knowledge is but a shadow. Vedic psychology is based upon the laws of right living (Dharma).
With this course, expand your understanding of the Ayurvedic approach to psychological counseling and immerse yourself in how Ayurveda aims to perfect the mind for human growth to support the healing of the body and mind. We will discuss further how to apply the Ayurvedic perspective on psychology to daily life and develop skills to support healing of the body and mind.
We’ll expand our approach to the Vedic philosophy systems that parallel Ayurveda and how they impact psychology, how the goals of yoga inform psychology and how the 4 goals of life intersect with psychology. We’ll tackle the five obstacles to a balanced mind and how Ayurvedic psychology approaches different stages of life. We will cover the use of some natural medicines to heal the mind.
