You may have a ticking time bomb waiting to go off in your midsection. Well over 100 million people in America have it. That’s about half of all adults. Fortunately, we can disarm the bomb.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a long-term gastrointestinal disorder that causes abdominal pain, bloating, mucus in stools, irregular bowel habits, and alternating diarrhea and constipation. Also known as spastic colitis, mucus colitis, and nervous colon, it has no known cause or medical cure, yet up to 15% of people have IBS symptoms, with two-thirds of them being women. Even though IBS usually has no serious complications, it can make people pretty seriously uncomfortable.
The most common symptoms experienced by people with IBS are:
- Changes in bowel habits
- Abdominal pain and cramping
- Feeling that the bowels are not fully emptied after using the bathroom
- Excess gas
- Passing of mucus
- Sudden urgent need to use the bathroom
- Abdominal swelling
Fortunately, natural healing has made some serious progress in helping people with IBS. Let’s spend some time talking about diet, herbs and natural remedies to resolve this painful situation.
