About Alka Deshpande, MH, RH (AHG)

For more than ten years, Alka has worked as a registered pharmacy professional in a state of Virginia helping pharmacists research and develop compounding formulations to meet individual patient needs.
Due to her experience in pharmacy and herbal medicine, Alka understands and utilizes the relationships between drug chemistry and plant chemistry, as many pharmaceutical drug sources are originally plant-based.

Besides having a graduate degree in Physics from university of Bombay(India), and studying Pharm Tech program at NVCC , She received her Master Herbalist Diploma from the Natural Healing College of California and pursued further education as Professional herbalist and advanced clinical skills with internship hours through IIEI( International Integrative Educational Institute), under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. K. P. Khalsa, one of the foremost natural healing experts in North America. She has completed all her credentials and registered as a professional member with AHG (American Herbalist Guild).

Her expertise and interest is in Ayurveda, an ancient art of herbal medicine from India as well as western herbalism, and she has experience working with GI issues, thyroid and Hormone imbalance, hair loss, skin problems and Diabetes. She presently practices as a clinical herbalist at Golden Health Pharmacy (Sterling) and Gainesville Pharmacy (Gainesville) in the Northern Virginia .

Alka strongly believes that herbal medicine requires a solid nutritional foundation in order for body to heal specially in modern times hence she is presently studying nutritional therapy Program at IIEI to receive credentials through NANP (National Association Of Nutrition Professionals).
